Subject: Salvador pt 2
Opa ! How's everyone ? It's funny because before I got in the mission field I was so excited to be in the city during Carnaval but now it's like -_- pecado (sin) ha but it's super fun here in Salvador. All the loudness and etc. remind me of Las Vegas so I like it. Elder Alencar does not like the city life at all ha but we're doing good work here in the area of the assistentes (Elder Pollard). He's traveling right now and giving trainings to all the other zones. The same training that he gave us that I'm gonna talk about here in a little. The ward here is amazing, there's way more members than Jacobina and a lot more youth but all of them are at FSY (EFY). I'm in the same ward as my Mission President too so that's cool. It's super funny talking to him and just being around him because he's super straight forward with things. Some people think he doesn't like them for this but he's a really really great person/leader/etc. I think he just doesn't like to waste time that's all ha. For example there's an Elder here that went up to him and said "President do you wanna hear something funny." And President Lisonbee just said no...hahahaha he doesn't have any problems with correcting and speaking what he thinks. It's funny because his wife is pretty opposite, she loves to talk to everyone. It was pretty embarrassing because she started talking to me and I had the hardest time talking to english. (Writing/typing is completely different). But I remember before the mission I would hear stories about missionaries that forgot english and I wanted that to happen to me but when you're talking to someone in English and you can't form a sentence, it's really really annoying ha....anywayssss.Here in Salvador it's not nearly as hot as it is in Jacobina but it's super humid so I sweat alot and it's annoying. There's alot more black people here so I feel more at home (even though everyone in my house is white). It's been a really good experience here so far in Salvador, we eat lunch and have P-Day with Elder Belo (super chill american/brasilian that I met the first day I got here in Brasil) and Elder Allison (my companion in the MTC) and I'm learning ALOT since I get to live with the Assistentes and staff. We had a zone meeting this last week and Elder Pollard gave a training ( I don't know what else to call it so sorry it sounds kind of dumb) and he talked about Family History. And everyone hears family history and leaves the room but he read us Malaquias 4:5-6 and explained that this passage is talking exactly about family history. Talks about the spirit of Elias which isn't a different spirit other than the Holy Ghost but an angel that testifies of truth and helps us just like the Holy Ghost does. But we have to do our part to blessed with this gift just like all the other things that God gives us. I'll never talk bad about genologia again after that meeting. A bunch of shared experiences that brought a Spirit that I've never felt before, a spirit that I didn't want to leave me. I've experienced so many things just in 4 months time and honestly we can all have that Spirit with us and literally walk with angles.I love you all so much but my times up for today ! Thank you so much for all the love and support that y'all give me ! It defintely isn't going unoticed :) xoxoxo--Élder Serph Alain DeckerMissão Brasil SalvadorA Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos SantosDos Ultimos Dias
