Subject: Re: Hi
Hey everybody ! So to start this email off I'll tell y'all about the big news of this week....We had lunch at this families house and they fed us this meal called Feijoada and it's just rice, beans, calabresa( a type of sausage) and every pary of a pig that you can think of. They made a TON of it......It was so good so I went to work and like 3 plates.....This was Friday and I'm still sick ha I guess my body's not used to so much pig because the last 2 days I felt like I was gonna die. I had a fever, head ache, stomach ache for almost 3 days. I'm feeling a lot better today but at the same time I'm not because we were eating lunch at a members house yesterday and she gave me this stuff. I have no idea what it was but she said drink all of it and you'll be good by tomorrow so I did....It did some bad things to me but I'm feeling better so no worries. We had a English class this Saturday that Elder Ward teaches and me and Elder Oliveira Neto got there late and so he asked me to say the prayer in English and I murdered it. It was so bad, I thought I'd be fine because my emails are easy to write, I haven't forgotten how to spell or anything but speaking English can be pretty hard sometimes, especially praying. Luckily no one knows English so they thought I was going really slow so they could understand a couple of words ha.This last Wednesday we had the baptism of Marilia. She's such a cool person. She added me on Facebook so we're pretty much brother and sister. I told her I'll teach her English and bring her to the U.S. with me. She was down. I'm so lucky to have been able to help her take these steps to baptism, she has a pretty bright future ahead of her, for sure ! I'm expecting at least 2 baptisms this next Saturday too, we've been teaching a lady named Nilza and she's progressed so much in such little time. It's because she has a member helping her along the way so we're gonna try and baptize her and her two sons but her oldest son still hasn't met us.Honestly this week has been amazing just like every other week, yesterday I was telling Elder Oliveira Neto that it amazes me, how perfect God's plan is. Down to every little detail in our lives he knows how to help us. One thing I've really been trying to develop within myself is Charity, and Love. Elder Oliveira is a perfect example of that and the Lord knows that too. It's gonna be sad to see him leave for home next Sunday but I'm glad I could learn so much from him.Elder Alencar too is such a great missionary it's crazy how much he loves this gospel. All this week he was talking about what he was gonna say in his talk because the Branch president told him some things that are bothering him about the members. Our branch president is the nicest, most humble guy ever and he's trying really hard not to complain. But Elder Alencar gave a really really good talk, calling people to repent like a missionary should haha and other things like enduring to the end because it wasn't easy for Chirst who was pure and without sin so why should it be easy for us? But one thing I really liked was what he said about missionary work. I know it's way easier for me to say this as a full time missionary but please please please please, be missionaries at home and share the gospel. Every morning me and him share a scripture with eachother to start off our day a little more focused and he shared one of favorite scriptures that I shared with him...1 Nephi 13:38 that talks of how blessed will be those that share the gospel of Jesus Christ and build the kingdom of God. In the last day rejoicing together with those people that they met along the way in the kingdom of God. And then he said imagine seeing them in the last day and them asking you, why you didn't help them...that now they have to suffer. With baptism we took upon the name of Christ which means to act like him in all times and places. He was a missionary. Like Lehi describes it, desirable above anything else, and we will be filled with the joy and love and spirit that our Heavenly Father has for us and be sanctified. I hope I can become a great missionary like the ones I live with. That's what the Lord wants for all of us, saints that testify of Christ. I love this gospel and I love all of you so much ! I can't wait to hear from you all next week !Elder Serph Decker
